Introducing New HSNT Midwife Sunny Guillory
We are thrilled to introduce Sunny Guillory, CNM, our new midwife at Health Services of North Texas (HSNT). With a wealth of experience in women's health and a passion for addressing healthcare disparities, Sunny brings a unique blend of expertise, compassion, and dedication to our team.
Sunny Guillory, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, moved to Texas over ten years ago and has since made it her home. She earned her midwifery degree from Texas Tech University, where she enjoyed a blend of online coursework and hands-on clinical training. Before becoming a certified nurse midwife, Sunny's career in nursing spanned 20 years, with a focus on women's health for the past decade.
At the beginning of Sunny’s midwifery career, she held a deep interest surrounding the disparities in women's health, particularly the high maternal and infant mortality rates in the United States. This curiosity turned into a mission when she learned how midwifery could help close these gaps. She explained, "I saw how midwifery helped with closing that disparity gap and how some of the practices for midwifery were used to help those women. And so, I said, I want to do that. I want to become one. And so, I did."
Sunny's professional journey has been diverse and rich. She has worked in various settings, including hospitals and a birthing center. Her experience includes working at Medical City Lewisville, where she specialized in Postpartum and newborn care. She also worked at a birthing center in McKinney, Texas, gaining valuable experience in out-of-hospital births and water births.
Sunny is passionate about providing personalized, empathetic care to women, especially those who may not have access to certain resources. Her dedication to understanding and addressing the unique needs of each patient is evident in her approach. Sunny emphasizes the importance of listening and creating a comfortable environment where women feel heard and respected. "I care about them. I care what happens to them. I care about them as a person through their pregnancy. They're not just another number. They are a person with feelings, and I know that their pregnancy is important to them and it's important to me too, and I want them to have the kind of care that they need. They don't always know what it is that they need, but that's where I come in to help them navigate through those things through their pregnancy,” she emphasized.
Sunny chose to join HSNT because of our commitment to serving and making a real difference in the community. She is excited to be part of an organization that aligns with her values and passion for reducing health disparities and providing quality care to all women. She is committed to empowering women, providing them with the knowledge and support they need to make informed decisions about their health and pregnancies. Sunny Guillory's dedication, experience, and compassionate approach make her a valuable addition to the HSNT team. We are excited for our patients to meet her and benefit from her exceptional care.
Outside of her professional life, Sunny enjoys spending time with her large, close-knit family. She has three children and a granddaughter and values the support and love they provide. Sunny's family, including her siblings, are mostly based in the North Texas area, making family gatherings a frequent and joyful part of her life.
