Having access to medical testing at your primary care provider's office can be invaluable. At Health Services of North Texas (HSNT), we understand that going to several different locations to get a test or medical care you need can be a challenge. We have six offices in the Denton, Wylie, and Plano, TX area where you can go to your medical appointments and get the tests you need on-site. Our experienced medical providers offer diagnostic and routine testing for men, women, and children. We also have testing services available for our expecting mothers, patients with chronic illness, and more.

In-house Testing we offer at HSNT

We offer medical testing for patients of all ages. Many of our patients come in for their annual physical and receive blood work as a part of their preventive care. We can offer testing for:

  • General blood work for annual physicals
  • Blood hormone levels
  • Flu and strep throat tests
  • Urine screens
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Sexually transmitted infections or diseases
  • Women's health (Pap tests, HPV screening, and more)

When you have your testing performed within your primary care provider, all of your records will be in one place. We do not have to send out your samples or specimens to another laboratory. This means we save time and get your results to you faster. Then, we can prescribe medication or make other recommendations faster to get you the medical care you need. If you need to see a specialist based on your test results, we can send you there based on the tests you have received (instead of just treating symptoms).

Infectious Disease Testing

As we offer case management to patients with infectious disease, we also feel that it is important to have testing readily available for our HIV and hepatitis C patients. By having testing available for our patients, we hope this will encourage patients to focus on their medical care. Having a medical record of testing at one place, like HSNT, is beneficial to patients who need to closely monitor their health in a timely manner.

What can I expect after?

Your plan for after-testing may depend on what test you had, along with the results. In addition, you will find all of your medical records stored in a singular, convenient location. In-House Lab and Testing FAQ

Do I have to fast before a lab test?

Depending on what type of testing you are having done, you may be asked not to eat for up to 12 hours before the test. Typically, patients will be asked to fast for cholesterol, HDL/LDL, liver function, blood glucose, metabolic panels, and renal function tests.

How quickly will I get my lab test results?

Some tests are most instant, and others may need up to two weeks. The major benefit of in-house lab testing at Health Services of North Texas is that our patients can have all of their testing done at one location, plus a faster turnaround time to get their results.

Will I need to have blood drawn?

Drawing blood is the most common procedure for lab testing. Because the blood reveals so much about the internal health and condition of the body, it is the most widely used sample to diagnose health issues, illness, and more. So more than likely, if you are having lab tests done, you will have a small amount of blood drawn.
