Sonogram

What Is a Sonogram?

A sonogram is an image made during an ultrasound exam. It uses gentle sound waves to create pictures of the inside of your body. This test is noninvasive, meaning it does not break the skin and does not use radiation.

Sonograms are often used to:

  • Confirm or monitor pregnancy
  • Check for gynecologic concerns
  • Help detect certain medical conditions

Our team uses modern ultrasound technology to provide clear, accurate images while keeping you comfortable.

Benefits of a Sonogram

Sonograms play an essential role in women’s health and overall care.

Benefits include:

  • Clear images of internal organs
  • Monitoring your baby’s growth during pregnancy
  • Early detection of health concerns
  • No radiation exposure
  • Quick and painless exams

Why Might I Need a Sonogram?

We may recommend a sonogram for several reasons, including:

  • Pregnancy Care: To check your baby’s growth and development
  • Fertility Concerns: To look more closely at reproductive organs
  • Pain or Symptoms: If you’re experiencing abdominal pain or cramping
  • Organ Health: To view the liver, kidneys, heart, blood vessels, thyroid, ovaries, and more

Sonograms help your care team understand what’s happening inside your body so they can guide the next steps in your care.

What to Expect at Your Sonogram Appointment

Your sonogram will be done by a skilled imaging technician who will explain each step of the process.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A safe, radiation-free exam
  • A procedure that is usually quick and painless
  • Imaging is done on the skin, or sometimes internally, for more precise results
  • A focus on your comfort, dignity, and privacy

Our team will answer your questions and make sure you feel supported throughout your visit.
