Denton, TX – Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) is proud to announce a new collaboration with LaGrone Academy's Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) program. This partnership aims to provide valuable externship opportunities for students, enhancing their education and preparing them for successful careers in healthcare.
Over the past two years, HSNT has welcomed ten graduating students from LaGrone Academy as employees. Amanda Helms, a Certified Clinical Medical Assisting Instructor at LaGrone Academy, shared her positive experience with HSNT, stating, "The opportunity to work for such a great organization that will help our students as they grow with part-time employment opportunities is one of my biggest challenges. HSNT provides this opportunity while allowing students to learn and gain valuable experience as they pursue their education."
Amanda emphasized the benefits of healthcare organizations training new graduates, noting, "It is helpful for healthcare organizations to train new graduates because you can train and shape them according to your organization's best practices and procedures." She expressed high expectations for the collaboration, believing it will be beneficial for both HSNT and the Medical Assistant Training program at LaGrone Academy.
During her externship, Amanda gained a deeper understanding of HSNT's culture and identified placement opportunities for students. She highlighted the impressive standards of care and procedures at HSNT, which exceed industry norms, making HSNT an ideal partner for training medical assistant students. Amanda also noted the extensive range of services offered by HSNT and the clear delineation of duties, which helps reduce burnout.
The externship program, funded in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission and Denton ISD, aims to build community relationships and partnerships. HSNT's Senior Clinical Nurse Manager expressed excitement about the collaboration, saying, "We have been envisioning a collaborative relationship with a school of merit for many years. Partnering with DISD's LaGrone Academy and their CCMA instructor Amanda to get real clinical experience in our medical centers for these students is both exciting and timely."
Donica Rogers, Lead Licensed Vocational Nurse at HSNT, added, "The partnership between Health Services of North Texas and the LaGrone Academy CMA program opens doors for students to gain invaluable hands-on clinical experience, empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals to thrive and serve their communities with confidence and compassion."
HSNT is committed to supporting the education and development of future healthcare professionals and looks forward to the continued success of this collaboration with LaGrone Academy.
