What is a pediatric sick visit?

Pediatric sick visits are reserved for children with health-related issues that cannot be managed at home or seem to be getting worse. If your child has a fever, for example, and it is not responding to over-the-counter medication, it may be time for a sick visit. The same can be said for other common symptoms, like coughing, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Additionally, some illnesses or conditions require professional care from the start. If your child has an earache, rash, or any sort of pain, it is always best to have them examined by a pediatrician.

What happens during a pediatric sick visit?

Health Services of North Texas employs on-site pediatricians and nurse practitioners who are passionate about providing quality care for every patient. During a sick visit, your child will be seen by one of our providers, who will ask questions about their symptoms and medical history.

A physical examination will be performed, and any necessary tests will be ordered. Your child may be prescribed medication or given referrals for follow-up care, depending on the diagnosis.

In some cases, our providers may recommend that your child be seen by a specialist. We are proud to have relationships with many specialists in the area who can provide additional guidance.
