We are delighted to introduce Makinzie Heard, one of our newest board members at Health Services of North Texas (HSNT). Mackenzie exemplifies the spirit of compassion and dedication that lies at the heart of HSNT's mission. Hailing from a nursing background, Makinzie 's journey with HSNT began through her support at Newton Rayzor Elementary School in Denton ISD. HSNT's flu shot clinics and health information fairs have had a significant impact on the community, and Makinzie was drawn to our mission of serving vulnerable families.

"As a foster parent, I've witnessed firsthand the barriers children face in accessing care with Medicaid," Makinzie shared. "HSNT's support for families in need, regardless of their circumstances, has been truly commendable." Her vision for the board centers on removing barriers to healthcare access. She envisions potential mobile clinics and additional sites to ensure healthcare is accessible to all, especially for the most vulnerable populations. "I want to support and celebrate the work HSNT does," Makinzie expressed. "Continuing to remove barriers to accessing care is essential, and I believe meeting people where they are is crucial for our community's well-being." Makinzie 's diverse background in human resource management and nursing adds a valuable perspective to the board. Her recent Masters in Health Services Administration further made her a natural fit to effectively embody HSNT’s mission

Beyond her board involvement, Makinzie treasures her role as a school nurse at Newton Rayzor Elementary. With a decade of experience, she has become a cornerstone of support for the school community. In her personal life, Makinzie 's dedication to fostering extends beyond providing a loving home. "We advocate for family reunification and cheerlead those reunifications when they happen," she shared, emphasizing the importance of supporting families through difficult circumstances. Outside of her professional and family commitments, Makinzie enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring nature with her loved ones.

Makinzie 's journey serves as a testament to the profound impact individuals can make when they combine passion, experience, and unwavering dedication to a cause. At HSNT, we are honored to have Makinzie as a board member, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with her to continue making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
