Introducing Lijo Abraham, FNP
Health Services of North Texas welcomes Lijo Abraham, FNP to our Denton team of family practice providers. Lijo is an empathetic provider who is deeply committed to helping others and brings that mission to the exam room for each patient she sees. Educating and empowering her patients is very important to her, because she knows that it’s always better to treat and address health problems here in the health center before they develop into something more serious.
Before coming to HSNT, Mrs. Abraham worked as a cardiothoracic nurse for 11 years in hospitals in Dubai, India and here in the United States. She knew that what she was doing was important, as every patient she would see in the Intensive Care unit was in critical condition and may need heart transplants. But then one day, she realized that she could help people so that they would never need to come to the ICU in the first place.
“One day I just did the math,” Lijo says. “A small amount of the population are coming to the hospital in critical shape, and once they arrive, sometimes, there’s only so much we can do. You really do care for them…so I was thinking to myself, ‘why don’t I care for the 99% outside of the hospital, so they don’t have to end up here at all?’”
In the time that she has been with HSNT, Lijo already knows she’s making a difference. From identifying undiagnosed diabetes in a young girl to recognizing when one of her patients was experiencing heart failure and needed immediate attention, Lijo is committed to making sure that her patients can trust her and feel comfortable when they walk in the door. She chose to pursue medicine because she believes strongly in helping others, and with her knowledge, careful bedside manner, and warm personality, she can help you, too.
“Building a relationship and a rapport with my patients is important to me,” Lijo says. “My patients should feel that I am here for them and that I will advocate for them.”
