From Struggles to Strength: James Henderson's Journey of Giving Back

In a quiet moment of reflection, James Henderson recalls the challenges he faced growing up in East Tennessee, watching his family struggle under the weight of medical bills. “One of my parents was medically disabled,” James shares, “and even with insurance, the stress spread through the whole family. Healthcare doesn’t just affect one person—it touches everyone.”

This experience planted a seed in James’s heart that continues to grow today through his involvement with Health Services of North Texas (HSNT). “I’ve seen what happens when families can’t access care. Those dollars [given to HSNT] are converted into hope—not just for individuals, but for whole family.”

Now living in Krum and serving as Chief Information Officer at DATCU, his volunteer work with the Denton Lions Club, where he helped with children’s vision screenings, connected him to HSNT’s mission. “Being part of HSNT is about giving back,” James explains. “When you strengthen families, you strengthen communities.”

James joined the HSNT board in 2018, pushed by a desire to make a meaningful impact. “I’m not a doctor –I can’t help people that way –but my contribution is most felt in the experience that I bring of helping run an organization.” Through his leadership, James strives to build a future where no family must bear the burden of healthcare alone.

In his downtime, James enjoys life with his wife and sons, grateful for the chance to give back to a community that has become home.
