Passion and Purpose - HSNT Board Member Spotlight
Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) Board Member Ryan Gehrke brings nearly 20 years of experience in executive healthcare search and a personal connection to community health. His understanding of the role Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) play in the healthcare system is rooted in his own childhood experience. "Growing up, we depended on a CHC in Saint Louis. The good work they did back then stuck with me," Ryan shared. This personal connection drives his passion for supporting HSNT’s mission, as he recognizes the wraparound services that community health centers provide are fundamental to supporting healthy communities.
Throughout his career, Ryan has worked closely with FQHCs and other healthcare organizations across the country, seeing firsthand the challenges and opportunities they face. "FQHCs are the safety net for patients who need more than just healthcare—they need support with housing, nutrition, and other essential services," he explains. Ryan’s expertise in healthcare staffing and executive-level insight allows him to bring valuable skills to the board, particularly in navigating the complexities within the healthcare landscape.
What excites Ryan most about HSNT is the organization’s commitment to access and quality care. "At HSNT, it’s not about turning people away because we’re at capacity. It’s about welcoming them and meeting them where they are," he said. Ryan believes that HSNT’s future holds tremendous growth potential, both in expanding services and making a deeper impact across the region.
Ryan’s dedication to helping others extends beyond his professional life. He shared that his passion for community care is also inspired by his own family’s experiences. "I come from a blue-collar upbringing and have seen firsthand how health issues like diabetes and alcoholism impact families," he said. "HSNT is doing the important work of giving people a leg up in life, and I’m honored to be part of it."
Ryan now lives in Plano with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family, including playing disc golf, a sport he’s passionate about. His personal and professional dedication to healthcare makes him a valuable asset to the HSNT Board, and we’re excited to see the positive impact he’ll make on the organization and the community.
