National Health Center Week August 4-10, 2024

Health Services of North Texas is included in 1,500 community health centers across the country commended for their role in providing Americans with essential healthcare

DENTON,TEXAS – August 2024

Local community health center Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) is proud to celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW) 2024,taking place August 4-10. The annual event highlights the essential role Community Health Centers play in improving public health and advancing health equity. Health centers represent the nation’s largest primary care network, serving 31.5 million patients nationwide. HSNT served 18,118 community members in Denton and Collin County in 2023 and expects to expand this number past 19,000 by the end of 2024.

This year’s NHCW celebration, launched by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), focuses on “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections” through a host of scheduled events nationwide. HSNT will celebrate through community outreach events, special social media posts and blog posts, staff volunteer opportunities, and a community conversation event with local, state, and national elected officials and healthcare professionals.

With a mission to make quality, affordable care available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status, health centers save lives on the front lines of our nation’s most pressing public health challenges. They are powered by a workforce of nearly 300,000 dedicated professionals who reach beyond the walls of the exam room to not only prevent illness but also address the social drivers that may cause it -- climate change, homelessness, substance use disorders, food insecurity and behavioral health.

Our work gives us a front-and-center perspective to understanding the health needs of our community and stepping into this important space with deliberate focus is making a real difference, one patient, one visit at a time.” Doreen Rue, CEO of Health Services of North Texas

HSNT is proud to represent the caring mission of community health centers in the local North Texas area. In Denton and Collin County, HSNT provides quality, accessible healthcare for:

  • 8,050 children
  • 7,343 women
  • 13,407 people living in poverty
