Leaving A Lasting Impression – HSNT Patient Story
Even if you’ve grown up and lived in the same town for all your life when you need help with your healthcare it can still be difficult to know where to turn. In 2016, Denton-native Ashley Muniz visited Health Services of North Texas for the first time after being referred by Texas Health and Human Services. Her first visit was a standard yearly checkup, but ever since then she has called HSNT her medical home.
“When I first started out, I didn’t know where to begin. Texas HHS told me you would accept me there, particularly because I didn’t have insurance,” Ashley says. “I’ve been getting my yearlies there. I had a great experience even then...with everyone I’ve come into contact with.”
HSNT’s quality of care left Ashley so impressed that when she was pregnant with her daughter, she decided to see HSNT for her baby’s health , too. Even with her women’s health, which can involve some of the most sensitive health issues, Ashely felt safe and comfortable.
“When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter three years ago I went there for all my prenatal visits. With Dr. Asis, anything I’ve had, any concerns or issues, he and the staff have always been very thorough and patient with me. Brittany Powell, NP, came into the picture a year or so ago for me, and… I just absolutely adore Brittany. She’s so sweet and takes her time, I never feel rushed with her.”
Financial issues were also a concern for Ashley, as she used HSNT’s sliding scale fee for a time, but even now when she has health insurance through the state, she knows that HSNT will always care for her.
“Sometimes in the waiting room you hear people’s stories, and it’s sometimes sad to hear, but I know that [the staff] all are really good about working with people and payments and things like that. The ladies at the front, all the staff, the medical assistants – I’ve had a great experience with everyone.
