Meet Abbie Fisher, APRN, CNM, MSN
If you meet Abbie Fisher, APRN, CNM, MSN, you'll notice her calm and compassionate demeanor immediately. Abbie's philosophy of care centers on meeting patients where they are, building trust and meaningful relationships that go far beyond the delivery room. “Midwifery is about so much more than delivering babies,” Abbie shares.
Born in Oklahoma and raised across several states, Abbie’s professional path was anything but traditional. Before becoming a midwife, she earned her law degree and practiced as a public defender. While her work was meaningful, she felt a deeper calling to midwifery—a profession she first considered as a teenager.
“It wasn’t until after I had my first child that I realized midwifery was what I was meant to do,” Abbie reflects. She returned to school to pursue nursing and midwifery at Texas Tech University, eventually earning her Master’s degree. Today, she blends her diverse professional background with her passion for personalized, patient-centered care. Abbie’s approach to midwifery reflects her belief in seeing the patient as a whole person. She focuses not only on physical health but also on emotional and mental well-being, providing care that extends far beyond pregnancy.
“My favorite part of midwifery is the time spent with patients before and after delivery,” Abbie explains. “It’s about creating a space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make decisions that are right for them.”
Her care includes addressing nutrition, managing risk factors like diabetes and high blood pressure, promoting mental health, and supporting patients through postpartum and beyond.
Throughout her career, Abbie has been drawn to serving communities in need. Whether working as a public defender or providing medical care at HSNT, she finds purpose in helping others.
“Serving others has always been at the heart of what I do,” she says. “It’s about helping people access the resources they need to improve their health and their lives.”
Abbie lives in Flower Mound with her three children and two Goldendoodles, Ireland and Paddington. In her free time, she enjoys reading and crocheting.
