Celebrating 10 Years of Service: Stephanie Perez
Born and raised in Texas, Stephanie Perez has spent the last decade making an impact as part of Health Services of North Texas (HSNT). Her journey with HSNT began in 2014 when the Plano Children’s Medical Clinic and Wylie Children’s Medical Clinic joined forces with HSNT. Starting as a receptionist, Stephanie quickly became an integral part of the health center’s growth. She transitioned into the Patient Access Navigator role at HSNT Plano, where she continues to make a difference today.
Reflecting on her early days with the health center, Stephanie recalls the excitement of the health center’s expansion, which saw new staff members and providers join their mission to serve the community. Working closely with Dr. Jo, Stephanie witnessed firsthand the incredible growth and evolution of the Wylie Children’s Medical Clinic, which solidified her commitment to the organization.
Among her most significant achievements are the “Get It Done Award” and the “Distinguished Service Award”—recognition from her colleagues for her commitment to HSNT’s mission. For Stephanie, these honors reflect her dedication, but what drives her most is the ability to help patients overcome barriers to healthcare. “Providing patients with a sense of peace and ensuring they have access to care, no matter their circumstances, is what I love most about my job,” she shares.
Stephanie’s inspiration comes from a deeply personal place. After losing her father due to a lack of medical care and support, she made it her mission to ensure that others wouldn’t have to face the same struggles. “This work is personal for me,” she explains. “I want to help families avoid the pain mine endured.”
Looking ahead, Stephanie is committed to furthering HSNT’s mission. She envisions the organization continuing to grow, improving and expanding its services to reach even more individuals in need of affordable healthcare. She hopes to continue playing a vital role in that growth while deepening her connection to the patients she serves.
As she reflects on the lessons she’s learned, Stephanie emphasizes the importance of treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect. Her advice to anyone starting their career? “Maintain a positive mindset, always strive to improve, and approach work with humility and compassion.”
Outside of her work at HSNT, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her large family, including her 18-year-old daughter, who is currently pursuing a career in nursing at Texas Woman’s University. In addition to her professional life, Stephanie runs a small crochet business with her daughter—something that may surprise her colleag ues!
As she celebrates a decade of service, Stephanie hopes to be remembered for her significant contributions, her dedication to HSNT’s mission, and her commitment to the patients and families she serves.
