GoZone: The Ins and Outs of Denton's New Transit Service
You may have heard the news about Denton’s new transit option, GoZone. But what is it? And how does it work? We’ve gathered up all the info you need to answer those questions and see how GoZone might work for you.
What is GoZone?
GoZone is DCTA’s new on-demand rideshare service. It works similarly to apps like Uber or Lyft, where you request a ride and minivan comes when you want, where you want.
How Does GoZone Work?
With the app, riders can request a ride and will be assigned a “virtual bus stop,” usually at a nearby corner or another spot no more than a block away. If you don’t have a smartphone, you can call the GoZone number (940-243-0077) and a DCTA employee will assist you in scheduling a pickup.
Rides currently cost just $0.75 per trip, with your first 4 rides are free until October 7th. If you have the app, you can add your debit/credit card information and will automatically be charged for the trip that way, or you can pay cash when you board the GoZone vehicle. Keep in mind that exact change is required.
You can also purchase eligible tickets or passes through DCTA or use your regional pass from DART or Trinity Metro — just be sure to select the relevant ticket type as your payment method and prepare to present the ticket/pass to your driver upon boarding.
Most GoZone vehicles are wheelchair and bike accessible, too. To let your driver know that you need wheelchair assistance, you can tap your profile picture at the top of the app menu and tap “Wheelchair Accessibility” to turn the option on or off.
All in all, GoZone is an easy to install, super fast option to get around Denton. It’s an awesome resource for patients who need rides to and from the health center or anywhere else!
