FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DENTON, TX – March 6, 2025– Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) proudly recognized exceptional healthcare achievements at their annual Provider Awards ceremony, spotlighting clinical excellence and patient-centered care that outperforms national standards. These prestigious awards showcase HSNT providers who consistently exceed expectations in managing chronic conditions, improving patient access, promoting immunizations, and supporting healthy pregnancies.
2024 HSNT Provider Award Winners:
Glycemic Gladiator Award
The Gylcemic Gladiator Award recognizes providers whose treatment plans, counseling and medication therapy empower their patients to gain control of their A1c. A1c is a number that measures blood glucose levels over a period of three months. In this category, the lower the number the higher rate of control.
- Ana Archila, PA-C (second consecutive year!) with an exceptional patient A1c control rate of 22.18%. This is an inverse number, meaning the lower the percentage, the higher number of patients controlled. This is an improvement in her patient numbers from last year by over 2%!
- Nisha Abraham, FNP, closely following with an outstanding 22.61% A1c control rate.
Nationally, the average A1c control rate hovers around 32.9%, highlighting just how significant HSNT’s achievement is in diabetes management. Patients praise Ana Archila, noting, "Ana advocated and fought for me to get the care I needed…she actually listens to you and thoroughly explains everything!"
Nisha Abraham’s patients also express strong confidence: "I always feel confident I’m in good hands with Nisha. She makes sure I understand everything clearly."
Pulse Perfection Award
The Pulse Perfection Award is earned by providers whose treatment plans, education and medication therapy have encouraged patients to adjust their lifestyles in such a way that it improves their blood pressure.
- Ana Archila, PA-C, achieving hypertension control in 84.89% of her patients, surpassing the national hypertension control rate of approximately 60%.
Immunization Champion Award
The Immunization Champion Award is very difficult to achieve as the measure is calculated based on a child having two flu vaccines before the age of 2 years old. It is a very difficult measure to archive. HSNT is proud of our work to provide parents with education on immunizations and create informed immunization decisions in partnership with their Pediatrician.
- Dr. Jyostna Kuppannagari (Dr. Jo), who attained a 43.42% childhood immunization rate. Dr. Jo’s dedication resonates with patients: "She provides care to my kids like they are her own…very passionate and committed."
Healthy Beginnings Award
HSNT's Healthy Beginnings Award goes to the provider with the lowest low birth weight percentage among their patients. Low birth weight is defined as a weight less than 5.5 pounds at birth and is a significant indicator of increased risk for various health complications.
- Mary Loya, FNP, achieving a remarkable low birth weight percentage of only 5.65%, significantly better than the national average of approximately 8%. This is an inverse number, the lower the number the better. One patient shared, "Mary attended to my pregnancy and now my annual checkups; she's an excellent [provider]."
Patient Access Award
HSNT's patient access award recognizes providers whose schedule throughout the entire year created additional access for patient appointments.
- Dr. Schulman, recognized for an exceptional 64 perfect schedule days, providing consistent and timely care. A perfect schedule is defined as seeing 24 patients in one day. Dr. Schulman's commitment to creating access for his patients is second to none. He prioritizes patient access and ensures that every child that needs to be seen is taken care of in a time manner. Families appreciate his dedication, sharing, "Dr. Schulman was thorough, addressing all of our concerns."
- Mary Loya, FNP and Tami Barton, FNP, each enhanced patient access by an average of 5 additional patients per day. HSNT providers recognize the growing need in our community and access to care is a priority for all of our providers. Patients commend Barton’s attentive care: "She patiently explained her findings and addressed all my concerns thoughtfully."
“HSNT is committed to providing the highest quality care possible to the patients we serve in our community,” said Debra Layman, Chief Operating Officer of HSNT. “These provider awards illustrate our dedication to excellence and in raising the bar as we strive to reach our goal of HRSA's prestigious Gold Level Badge recognition in 2025-2026!”
The HSNT Provider Awards were presented during the annual Employee Celebration and Awards Party on Thursday, March 6, 2024. These awards underline HSNT’s commitment to excellence, continually raising standards in our community and beyond.
