Health Services of North Texas Receives a Health Center Quality Leader (HCQL) Badge from the Health Resources and Services Administration

HCQL Badge Highlights HSNT’s Role as a Quality Leader in Healthcare

DENTON, TEXAS – January 2024

In November of 2023, Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) received a Health Center Quality Leader badge from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the year 2022. Quality Leader badges are awarded to community health centers across the U.S. that have made significant strides towards improving progress on HRSA’s designated clinical quality measures. HSNT was awarded a Quality Leader badge at the bronze level, which places the organization in the top 21-30% of U.S. health centers based on their quality metrics.

The bronze level Health Center Quality Leader badge is a result of HSNT's partnership with their patients in improving specific clinical quality measures, including the following:

Increase in Total Number of Patients and Patients Receiving Comprehensive Services:
The total number of patients, as well as the number of patients receiving at least one comprehensive service in addition to primary healthcare (such as mental health services), increased at HSNT between the years of 2021 and 2022. This reflects HSNT's commitment to expanding access to a broader range of healthcare services that are identified as community needs.

Improvement in Patient Measures of Hypertension Control and Uncontrolled Diabetes:
HSNT and their patients showcased commendable progress through improvement in patients’ overall hypertension control and uncontrolled diabetes quality metrics between 2021 and 2022. Most notably, HSNT patients improved their collective levels of hypertension control by over 10% during this period.

HSNT is dedicated to continuing their role in the North Texas community as quality leaders in healthcare by providing residents with the care they need, regardless of ability to pay. In 2023, HSNT served a record number of 18,118 patients at health centers across Denton and Collin County.

Regarding the Quality Leader badge, Doreen Rue, Chief Executive Officer of Health Services of North Texas, said, “True to our mission, vision, and values, our strong clinicians and support team work collectively to navigate barriers to care and engage our patients in their care. Recognition or not, our team is committed to high quality and affordable care for all our patients. We are grateful to our team and community for investing in community health centers.”
