Pediatric Well-Visits

What Is a Well-Child Visit?

A well-child visit is a routine checkup for children who are not sick. These visits focus on prevention, growth, and development. Even if your child feels fine, regular well-visits help catch health concerns early and keep your child on track.

Well-child visits also help children build a healthy relationship with their bodies and with medical care. At HSNT, we believe it’s just as important to celebrate good health as it is to treat illness.

Why Are Pediatric Well-Child Visits Important?

Seeing a provider only when your child is sick can make it easy to miss early signs of health issues. Pediatric well-child visits at HSNT help support your child’s health year-round.

Benefits of well-child visits include:

  • Tracking growth and developmental milestones
  • Checking vision and hearing
  • Keeping immunizations up to date
  • Monitoring sleep, appetite, mood, and behavior
  • Early detection of chronic or autoimmune conditions
  • Time for parents to talk about concerns or questions
  • Building a trusted relationship with your child’s care team

When Should My Child Have a Well-Child Visit?

Regular well-child visits are recommended throughout childhood, especially during times of rapid growth. These visits allow our pediatric team to:

  • Monitor development
  • Provide vaccinations
  • Offer guidance on nutrition, activity, and behavior

If your child is due for a checkup or you have concerns about their development, it’s a good time to schedule a well-visit.

What Happens During a Well-Child Visit at HSNT?

When you bring your child to Wylie Children’s Medical Clinic or another HSNT location, you can expect a caring and kid-friendly experience.

During the visit, we may:

  • Measure height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
  • Review your child’s medical and immunization history
  • Perform a physical exam
  • Discuss sleep habits, nutrition, physical activity, and emotional health
  • Order lab work, such as a urine test or blood draw, if needed

Our pediatric providers take time to listen and answer questions so you feel confident about your child’s care.

Follow-Up Care & Referrals

Some children may need follow-up visits or a referral to a specialist after a well-child visit. HSNT offers in-house testing at Wylie Children’s Medical Clinic. If any results are outside the normal range, your provider will discuss next steps and ongoing care with you.

HSNT also supports children with ongoing or chronic conditions by offering coordinated, continuous care.
