Birth Control

What Is Birth Control?

Birth control helps prevent pregnancy and gives you more control over your reproductive health. HSNT offers many types of birth control and provides education so you can make informed decisions.

Along with birth control, our board-certified women’s health practitioners offer:

  • Well-woman exams
  • STI/STD testing and treatment
  • Reproductive health counseling

All services are confidential, and many patients qualify for free or reduced-cost care.

Benefits of Birth Control

Using birth control can support your health and future plans. Benefits may include:

  • Preventing unplanned pregnancy
  • Helping you plan and space pregnancies
  • Lighter periods and fewer cramps (with some methods)
  • More regular menstrual cycles
  • Lower risk of some cancers, such as ovarian and uterine cancer

Our team will explain the benefits and possible side effects of each option.

Birth Control Options at HSNT

HSNT offers a range of birth control options. Your provider will help you choose what is best for you.

Options may include:

  • Birth control pills
  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs), both hormonal and hormone-free
  • Birth control patches
  • Birth control shots (hormone injections)
  • Birth control implants

We will review how each method works, how long it lasts, and what to expect.

Protecting Yourself from STIs and STDs

Birth control helps prevent pregnancy, but most methods do not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs or STDs), including HPV and HIV.

If you are sexually active, using a condom can help protect against infections. HSNT also offers STI/STD testing and treatment. If you have symptoms or concerns, please schedule an appointment.
