Andrew “Drew” McNeely, PA-C, brings over a decade of experience in community health to Health Services of North Texas, along with a deep passion for providing compassionate, resourceful care to patients from all walks of life.

Originally from Iowa, Drew earned his degrees in Biology and Spanish from the University of Iowa before completing his Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University. After graduating, he and his wife moved to the Rio Grande Valley, where he spent more than ten years serving at a community health center. “That’s where I learned how to help people in resource-poor settings,” he says. “It taught me how to make the most of what’s available and how to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds.”

Drew believes speaking more than one language helps him take better care of his patients. Fluent in Spanish, he values the ability to meet patients where they are. “Communication is everything,” he explains. “When you can talk to patients in their own language and understand their circumstances, you build trust.”

At HSNT, Drew’s clinical focus is internal medicine, and his approach is grounded in practicality, empathy, and patient-centered problem solving. “Treat the patient, not the disease,” he says. “You have to be conscious of barriers like transportation, finances, or prior authorizations, and figure out how to work around them. Our goal is to keep patients out of the ER by managing chronic conditions early and effectively.”

He also believes in keeping the atmosphere light when possible. “Even though the conditions can be serious, laughter goes a long way,” he says. “It’s not the cure for diabetes or high blood pressure, but a good sense of humor helps patients feel comfortable and cared for.”

Drew and his family relocated to Denton in 2024 when his wife accepted a teaching position at the University of North Texas. Together, they are raising two daughters and enjoying everything the area has to offer, from visiting Lake Ray Roberts and exploring local parks to spending weekends at zoos, museums, and sporting events.

For Drew, working at HSNT is a continuation of the mission he has been on since his earliest days in medicine. “This is where my passion lies,” he shares. “Helping people access care they wouldn’t otherwise have, and seeing how that changes their lives, that’s what it’s all about.”
