Therapy FAQs

It's important to remember that individual therapy is an investment in your mental health, providing invaluable long-term benefits. The price of individual therapy at our Denton, Wylie, and Plano, TX locations will depend on a few different factors, including whether or not you will be using insurance. At Health Services of North Texas, we want to make individual therapy easily accessible and more affordable for everyone, so we offer a sliding fee scale, which determines what the price will be based on income for those who do not have health insurance.

Not at all. Just like annual physicals are meant to maintain your physical health, individual therapy at Health Services of North Texas is a way to prioritize and invest in your mental and emotional health. It has become very common to seek out individual therapy, especially within the past few years as people have struggled with the fallout from COVID isolation. Studies have shown that depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have become more prevalent during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, but individual therapy can help.

The purpose of individual therapy is multifaceted and can vary depending on your needs and goals. Generally, individual therapy at Health Services of North Texas aims to promote mental and emotional well-being, improve coping strategies, and enhance your overall quality of life. The purpose, ultimately, is to provide professional guidance, support, and the tools needed to help you navigate through any difficulties you are currently facing or may experience later on.

The length of individual or family therapy varies based on the complexity of the issues and the client’s progress. Some may reach their goals in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from extended therapy for ongoing support and growth. The client and counselor usually decide the duration together, ensuring a personalized approach that meets each individual's unique needs.

You'll know therapy is effective when you start managing your emotions better, feel more confident in relationships, and handle daily challenges with greater ease. Noticing positive shifts in your thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses are key indicators of progress.

It’s helpful to bring a list of concerns or goals you want to address. This can guide the session and provide a starting point for your counselor to understand your needs and expectations.
